BAHA MAR Nassau Beach Hotel

Baha Mar, which sits on the edge of the island's Goodman's Bay close to the capital Nassau, is one of the world's biggest resorts. The resort boasts 2,300-plus rooms, a Jack Nicklaus signature 18-hole golf course, scores of dining chains, plus shops selling high-end brands. The resort is expected to create 5,000 new jobs and a $130M payroll – adding around 12 per cent to the Bahamas' GDP. FDR Engineers performed light steel framing design and detail drawings for exterior cold-formed steel wall framing for this 5-star beach hotel. Framing was designed for wind speed up to 146 mph. Framing members and their connections were detailed. Challenges included design and detailing of wide openings, curved windows, canopies and structural steel-supported framing.
